The boom in U.S. car and truck sales in September slowed in October. The prior boom was largely the result of replacement sales activity after the hurricanes earlier in the month. On a seasonally adjusted, annualized basis sales were 1% better than a year earlier and 3% better than expected. Imported trucks did especially well, rising 17% on a year earlier. Importers clearly anticipate more of the same in November, with seaborne imports during October having risen 38% Panjiva data shows. For trucks and cars combined Hyundai Mobis maintained its import lead over Nissan.
